Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Afghanistan's Special Representative for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov said on Monday that one of the biggest legal obstacles to expanding political, economic and official interactions with the Afghan government has been removed.
"We will not stop here, because more steps must be taken in this direction," Kabulov said in a televised interview, referring to the future of relations between the two countries, according to TASS news agency. "Although it is too early to talk about details, what can be said with certainty is that a large trade forum between Russia and Afghanistan will be held in mid-May in Kazan."
He added that a high-level delegation from Russia led by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Urchuk and a high-ranking delegation from the government and private sector of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan will attend the meeting.
The development continues a trend previously announced by Russian officials. Last year, Russian National Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu promised Islamic Emirate officials during a visit to Kabul that the government's name would be removed from Russia's list of terrorist groups.
The Russian parliament also passed a law in August last year that provided the legal basis for the decision.
