Massive protests against Trump in hundreds of locations across the United States
Thousands of people across the United States took to the streets in the form of the “50501” movement and demonstrated against Trump’s policies.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): On Saturday, 700 locations in 50 US states witnessed massive protests against the Trump administration. These protests were organized by the newly established “50501” movement, which has managed to influence American civil society in a short time.

The “50501” movement (short for “50 protests, in 50 states, with one movement”) was formed in February from the social network “Reddit” and quickly became a national movement against “authoritarianism and government corruption.”

The official statement of the movement states: “We announce to the world that the American working class will no longer remain silent; in the face of the collapse of democratic institutions, civil liberties and the rule of law, by a network of billionaires, lobbyists and unaccountable officials.”

“We’re not just here to protest; we’re here to build a future where someone like Trump can’t hold democracy hostage,” said Alisha Ray, a spokesperson for the movement at the massive New York rally. She also cited opposition to projects like Project 2025 and Elon Musk’s influence in government, stressing that this is no longer a partisan fight, but a fight to preserve the republic.

The “Hands Off!” demonstration, held on April 5, 2025, was the largest anti-Trump protest to date, and the recent rallies are the second largest campaign against him.

Protesters in some cities carried Palestinian flags and pictures of children from Gaza and called for an end to U.S. support for Israel.

Major rallies were held in cities including New York, Chicago, Raleigh, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Phoenix, Indianapolis, and Carson City. In states like Michigan and Arkansas, citizens also participated in peaceful protests.

In addition to the marches, there were also a wide range of community activities, including food and clothing drives for the needy, nature cleanups, and discussion circles.

“We are building a network of solidarity,” one organizer in Raleigh, North Carolina, told NBC News. “In the midst of a crisis, we need to remind people that America is only meaningful when we are for each other, not against each other.”

The “50501” movement is a response to the actions of the Trump administration during his second term, especially after the creation of an agency called “DOGE” aimed at shrinking the federal bureaucracy. Elon Musk’s collaboration with the Trump administration on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and surveillance technologies has also raised concerns.

Organizers have said this is just the beginning, and they plan to hold a series of local strikes, educational programs and statewide rallies throughout the summer.

“What we witnessed today is not an end, but a beginning, to rebuild civic engagement in America that has been forgotten,” the final statement said on Saturday, according to Fars.

CNN also considered the rallies to reflect an emerging social uprising that, relying on technology, decentralized organizing and the real concerns of citizens, is presenting itself as a new voice in American politics.
