Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: US President Donald Trump claimed this morning (Tuesday, April 22) that "if we don't deport criminal illegal immigrants from America, we won't have a country left."
Trump stated on the Truth Social social network that it is not possible to hold a trial for every person targeted for deportation and that this process could take "200 years." He emphasized that the main focus is on deporting "criminals" and people who are in the United States illegally.
According to the Sputnik news agency, he continued his claims by explaining: "My administration is doing a great job in deporting illegal immigrants, but it is even being held back by the Supreme Court."
The US President also added: “It seems that the Supreme Court does not want me to deport violent criminals and terrorists to Venezuela or any other country.”
In Donald Trump’s speeches, especially during the election campaigns (2016 and 2020), he has repeatedly mentioned the issue of illegal immigrants and has placed great emphasis on deporting illegal immigrants who have committed crimes. In this context, specific countries have been repeatedly mentioned in his speeches. The most important of these countries are: Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, which later, with the increase in immigration from Venezuela and other Latin American countries, were also included in his list of security concerns.
This is while independent statistical studies show that immigrants (legal or illegal) generally have lower crime rates than American citizens.
A study by the University of Texas (2018) showed that illegal immigrants in the state of Texas commit fewer violent crimes than American citizens.
