UN praises Iran as global model for hosting refugees; calls for strengthening international support
The Deputy High Commissioner for Refugees, in a meeting with the Head of the Directorate General of Foreign Nationals and Refugees of the Khorasan Razavi Governorate of the Islamic Republic of Iran, praised the country's distinguished role in humanitarian hosting of refugees and emphasized the need to strengthen international support for Iran.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Mashhad: "Voton Orana", Deputy High Commissioner for Refugees, met and talked with Jafar Seyedabadi, Head of the Directorate General of Foreign Nationals and Refugees of the Khorasan Razavi Governorate, during his visit to Mashhad.
 
Orana, appreciating Iran's services in the field of refugees, stated: "Iran is always known as a successful and pioneering model in the field of humanitarian policies. We sincerely appreciate your efforts in Mashhad and other regions of the country."
 
Jafar Seyedabadi, referring to the city of Mashhad’s kind hosting of refugees based on the character of Imam Reza (AS), stated that the central slogan of this year’s meeting of the department is “Explaining the Islamic Republic of Iran’s hosting model in the field of refugees and migrants” based on the principles of belief and the civilizational outlook of the Islamic Revolution.
 
Emphasizing the pressures resulting from economic sanctions, he added: “Despite these limitations, the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been a worthy host for refugees. It is expected that the United Nations will strengthen its voluntary support and pay special attention to attracting funds to support refugees, especially in Khorasan Razavi Province.”
 
It is worth mentioning that this meeting was held with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation and promoting interactions between Iran and international institutions in the field of migration and asylum.
