Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The press office of the Ministry of Public Works announced in a press release that over the past week, a total of 66,298 tons of goods were transported through the country's railways.
This amount of goods was imported and exported through the ports of Hairatan, Aqina, Turghandi and the Khaf-Herat route, including oil, non-oil and other commercial items.
According to the ministry, during the same period, 5,822 tons of commercial goods were also transited and exported, the bulk of which consisted of dried fruits, pomegranate juice, quinoa and potatoes.
According to the report, increasing transportation and exports via railways will lead to job growth, increase national income, and take steps towards economic stability, progress, and self-reliance.
The Ministry of Public Works has emphasized that it is trying to provide more convenience for traders and create suitable conditions for transportation.
This comes despite the fact that over the past few weeks, total transportation via railways had reached 76,076 tons.
