New chapter in Afghan-Russian diplomacy; Kabul on the eve of sending official ambassador to Moscow
While Afghanistan's political interactions at the international level have been fraught with challenges, the recent meeting between senior Kabul officials and the Russian Special Representative promises a new phase of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Islamic Emirate will soon introduce a diplomat at the level of ambassador to Russia; A step that could strengthen Kabul's political position at the regional level.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Afghanistan's Foreign Ministry said in a statement that its acting head, Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi, met with Russian President Vladimir Putin's special envoy for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the expansion of bilateral relations, economic and trade cooperation and important regional issues.

At the meeting, Maulvi Muttaqi appreciated Russia's recent decision to remove the Taliban Movement, previously used for the Islamic Emirate, from the list of banned groups in the country, calling it an important step towards strengthening relations between Kabul and Moscow.

He also said that the Islamic Emirate would soon introduce a diplomat as Afghanistan's official ambassador to Moscow and thanked Russia for accepting the representative.

On the other hand, Zamir Kabulov also stressed that the Russian Federation is interested in expanding relations with Afghanistan and has taken serious measures to remove existing obstacles. He added that in May this year, on the sidelines of the Kazan meeting, the Permanent Commission on Bilateral Relations between Russia and Afghanistan will officially start working.

Kabulov called the developments "the beginning of a new chapter in relations between the two countries" and stressed the importance of continued interaction in various fields.

The Russian Federation has recently removed the name of the Islamic Emirate from its list of banned groups in an unprecedented move. The decision, according to many political observers, will pave the way for more formal interaction between Kabul and Moscow.

Although relations between Kabul and Moscow have been marked by ups and downs in the past, recent developments indicate a change in Russia's approach to Afghanistan; This change could lead to the gradual entry of the Islamic Emirate into more formal interactions with the world.
The introduction of Afghanistan's official ambassador to Moscow could be an important step in consolidating the Islamic Emirate's position at the regional level, especially at a time when many countries are still hesitant to officially recognize the new Kabul government.
On the other hand, the launch of the Permanent Commission on Relations between Kabul and Moscow will facilitate strategic planning for bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, energy, transit and education. However, the success of this new chapter will depend on how Afghanistan balances domestic considerations with constructive engagement with the international community.
