Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Mazar-e-Sharif: The process of distributing land to returning migrants, especially those deported from Pakistan and Iran, began today (Wednesday, April 23) in the presence of Maulvi Abdul Salam Hanafi, the administrative deputy prime minister of the interim government, in Nahr-e-Shahi district of Balkh province.
Maulvi Hanafi announced at the ceremony that land would be distributed to 3,150 returning families in the Maulana Jalal-ud-Din Mohammad Balkhi settlement in Nahr-e-Shahi district. Accordingly, families with a population of more than 10 people will receive 15 buswahs and families with a smaller population will receive between 5 and 10 buswahs.
"In the Maulana Jalal-ud-Din Mohammad Balkhi settlement, the construction of health, educational, commercial, religious schools and other needs of the people are also planned to solve their problems," the deputy prime minister said.
He called the forced deportation of Afghan refugees against Islamic, human values and principles of neighborly relations and stressed efforts to solve problems and provide facilities for returning families.
"Our goal is to manage these families properly and provide them with access to appropriate services," Hanafi said.
Meanwhile, Maulvi Hamdullah Nomani, Minister of Urban Development and Housing, also spoke about the ministry's regular programs to provide appropriate social services to returning migrants. He announced the establishment of a committee to permanently accommodate migrants deported from Pakistan and Iran and announced that land would be distributed to these families in built settlements.
Meanwhile, Balkh Governor Maulli Mohammad Yousuf Wafa urged Afghan refugees, especially those living in the United States who face an uncertain fate, to return to the country.
It is worth mentioning that a number of returnees, while welcoming the land distribution plan, demanded that the government prioritize the beneficiaries and cooperate in the process of building shelters for them.
