Improving Safety on Herat-Islam Qala Highway; 90% Completion of Traffic Signage and Marking Project
The Herat Provincial Traffic Department announced the significant progress of the traffic signage and marking project on the Herat-Islam Qala Highway and announced that more than 90% of the work on this project has been completed.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)-Herat: According to Maulvi Ghulam Mohammad Naqib, Traffic Director of the Herat Provincial Police Headquarters, in cooperation with the provincial Public Works Department, the traffic signage and marking project on the Herat-Islam Qala Highway is being carried out at a rapid pace and has been completed by 90% so far.
 
Maulvi Naqib expressed hope that this project will soon be fully operational. He also noted that with the launch of this project, traffic flow on this route has become more orderly and the number of traffic accidents has also decreased significantly.
 
The Herat-Islam Qala highway, with a distance of 120 kilometers, is one of the busiest transportation routes in the country and witnesses the traffic of thousands of light and heavy vehicles daily. Previously, this highway caused many casualties and damages annually due to numerous traffic accidents. It is expected that with the completion of this project and the observance of traffic rules by drivers, safety on this route will improve.
