Afghan runners leave for Basra to participate in world off-marathon competitions
In a promising move for the country's sports, a two-member team from the National Athletics Federation of the country left for the country today to participate in the first round of the international "off-marathon" competitions hosted by the city of Basra, Iraq. These competitions will be held with the participation of athletes from 50 countries around the world.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The National Athletics Federation of the country announced that a team consisting of an athlete and a coach, with the support of the General Directorate of Olympics, Physical Education and Sports, has left for Iraq to participate in the international off-marathon competitions.
 
The team is scheduled to represent Afghanistan in the competitions hosted by the city of Basra, over a distance of 25 kilometers and with the participation of runners from 50 countries around the world. These competitions.
 
Before the team's departure, a farewell ceremony was held in the presence of high-ranking sports officials of the country, including Mawlawi Ahmadullah Wasiq, the General Director of the Olympics, Hafiz Ahmad Jan Zadran, the Deputy Technical and Professional Director, and Fazlur Rahman Bari, the Head of the Office.
 
At the ceremony, Mawlawi Wasiq, while wishing success to the dispatched athlete, said: "The presence of our athletes in such events is a manifestation of the ability, determination and competence of the young generation of Afghanistan. It is hoped that the country's flag will be raised at the international level."
