Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The press office of the Ministry of Public Works said in a statement to AVA that Mullah Mohammad Isasani, the acting head of the ministry, met with Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin and discussed the expansion of economic, trade, transport, logistics and railway cooperation.
During the meeting, the two sides considered the railway corridor between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan as a valuable opportunity to develop regional connectivity and expand and sustain economic and trade relations between the two countries.
According to the press release, the acting head of the Ministry of Public Works, while welcoming the Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan and his delegation, said; The Islamic Emirate is interested in expanding relations and cooperation with the Kazakh side in the economic, trade and transport sectors; Because now there is a good opportunity for domestic and foreign investment in Afghanistan.
Kazakhstan wants to invest $500 million in the Turghandi-Herat railway and establish a transport and logistics center in Herat, the deputy prime minister said during the meeting.
He called Kazakhstan an important and integral partner of Afghanistan and added that Kazakh companies are interested in participating in road and railway construction projects in Afghanistan with the Ministry of Public Works.
During the meeting, a memorandum of understanding on future cooperation between the two countries was signed between the Deputy Minister of Railways of the Ministry of Public Works and the Deputy Minister of Commerce of Kazakhstan.
At the end, the emphasis was placed on the expansion and continuation of bilateral economic and trade relations and it was decided that in the future, a joint technical committee of the two countries will meet to follow up and implement related issues.
