Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Continuing the series of earthquakes in Turkey, this morning, Kutahya Province was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.6 on the Richter scale. According to Turkish media reports, this earthquake has caused educational centers in the province to close.
The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) announced that the earthquake occurred at around 07:23 local time and at a depth of 8.81 kilometers. A few minutes later, another earthquake with a magnitude of 3.9 on the Richter scale was recorded in the same area.
Following these earthquakes, residents of the Simav district of Kutahya province have left their homes in fear. Although no casualties have been reported so far, rescue and relief forces are still on alert.
Based on the warnings of seismologists, the continuation of these earthquakes could indicate increased activity of active faults in this part of Turkey.
International seismological sources have confirmed that Kutahya province is one of the earthquake-prone regions of Turkey and has witnessed high-intensity earthquakes in the past. These earthquakes are usually caused by movements of active faults in the western region of Turkey, which previously played a role in the deadly 2023 earthquake.
Experts believe that despite the lack of casualties or damage in the recent earthquake, the recurrence of tremors in Kutahya province could be a warning of more severe earthquakes in the future. Preventive measures and crisis management seem essential for earthquake-prone countries such as Turkey and even Afghanistan, which is part of the Central Asian seismic belt. Turkey's experience can be an important model for crisis management institutions in Afghanistan to strengthen earthquake preparedness.
