Message of condemnation from the Secretary General of the World Forum for the Rapprochement of Islamic Religions;

The discourse of rapprochement should be the focus of all cultural and religious activities

The discourse of rapprochement should be the focus of all cultural and religious activities
Following the publication of insulting remarks against the sanctities of the Sunnis in a program on Iran’s Channel One television, the Secretary General of the World Forum for the Proximity of Islamic Religions, while condemning it, emphasized the vigilance of the media and officials against divisive currents and called for strengthening unity and empathy among Muslims.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Tehran: Dr. Hamid Shahriari, Secretary General of the World Forum for the Proximity of Islamic Religions, condemned the insult to the sanctities of the Sunnis in an Iranian Channel One television program.

According to the Public Relations Department of the World Forum for the Proximity of Islamic Religions, the text of the message is as follows:

The recent insult to some of the sanctities of the Sunnis has truly caused great pain and regret.
This pain and regret is due to the fact that this mistake has led to resentment among our Sunni brothers and sisters, especially scholars and scholars, and also because, despite our Islamic, Quranic and religious teachings, we continue to witness ignorant divisions that undoubtedly stem from hostile seditions designed or supported by the enemies of Islam.

Adherence to Islamic etiquette is so prominent in the original teachings that Amir al-Mu'minin Ali (a.s.) showed sensitivity to this issue even at the height of the Battle of Siffin and warned his soldiers against speaking ill of the enemy armies.

This desirable practice has always been the focus of the Imams of Guidance (peace be upon them all) and all our great scholars, and in particular, the great founder of the holy system of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini (may God have mercy on him) and his righteous predecessor, the Supreme Leader (may God protect him), have issued a serious warning with great sensitivity against the slightest statement that could be considered an insult to the companions of the Messenger of God (peace be upon him and his family and companions) or the mothers of Muslims.

Maintaining Islamic unity and adhering to its requirements is a constant necessity, but in the current situation in the world, where parts of the Islamic Ummah are subjected to the most severe crimes and brutal attacks more than ever before, this necessity has gained double importance.

The World Forum for the Proximity of Islamic Denominations, emphasizing the objective of the views of the Supreme Leader in this regard, calls for more serious attention from all cultural and media activists in the country to observe the principles that are necessary for the formation of a unified Islamic Ummah.

The discourse of proximity, as one of the most important characteristics of Islamic teachings, should always be at the forefront of all cultural and religious activities, and the slightest action that could fuel the greed of the enemies of Islam in igniting the fire of division should be avoided.

Throughout its existence, the holy regime of the Islamic Republic has felt more responsible than any other Islamic government or country for the fate of the Sunni brothers and sisters in occupied Palestine, and in the two and a half years since the Al-Aqsa storm, it has expressed its greatest support in various ways. Iran’s support and backing of resistance groups – regardless of which Islamic sect they belong to – has always caused anger and concern for the enemies of Islam, and therefore it is natural that they would use every opportunity to prevent this cooperation and synergy.

Therefore, the occurrence of this regrettable error originally has more complex dimensions, and it is expected that those responsible, especially the managers of the national media, will pursue it carefully to prevent the repetition of such tragedies.

Dr. Hamid Shahriari
Secretary General of the World Forum for the Proximity of Islamic Religions

It is worth mentioning that on Wednesday, 30 Saur 1404, on the live program “Family Show” on the Iranian national television channel, statements were broadcast that were considered offensive to Sunni beliefs. These statements sparked widespread reactions and led to the dismissal of the broadcast director and the director of the production group of the program. Also, eight people involved in the program were charged and they were introduced to the judicial system. In a statement, the Iranian Broadcasting Corporation considered this action an unforgivable mistake and emphasized that it strongly condemns any divisive action.
