Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Maulavi Mohammad Qasim Amiri, head of the Panjshir Mines and Petroleum, said that the contract for this project has been approved by the Deputy Economic Office of the Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate and its implementation stages will begin soon.
Mr. Amiri added that with the start of this project, work will be provided for about 500 local residents.
He emphasized that the mines of Panjshir, like other provinces of the country, have great economic opportunities in themselves and the proper exploitation of these resources can play an important role in the growth of the national economy and providing employment.
Panjshir, as one of the mountainous provinces, is known to have significant natural reserves, especially in the fields of iron, emeralds, precious and semi-precious stones.
The iron mines of Paryan district of Panjshir are among the rich reserves of the country, and several domestic and foreign groups had previously expressed interest in investing in them; however, due to the lack of security and standard structures, their extraction had not officially begun.
Economic experts believe that if the country's mines are extracted in a standard manner and their revenues flow into the government treasury, Afghanistan will be on the path to economic self-sufficiency and rapid reconstruction. The beginning of domestic investments in the country's mining sector, especially in provinces like Panjshir, can be an important step towards rebuilding the country's economy. However, transparent management, standard extraction, environmental protection, and prevention of corruption in the extraction process are issues that, if not properly observed, can turn this golden opportunity into a serious threat to the country's national resources.
