Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Tehran: The government of the Islamic Republic of Iran announced that the country’s president has left for Bandar Abbas and has been closely informed about the situation of the injured by visiting the hospitals where they are being treated. It is said that while talking to the injured and expressing his condolences, he asked the treating doctors about the latest condition of the patients and issued the necessary orders to provide the best medical services.
The head of the Iranian Crisis Management Organization also announced the latest death toll in the incident, saying that 27 people had died. He also expressed hope that the fire would be contained by nightfall with the efforts of rescue forces, referring to the re-ignition caused by bitumen and chemicals in the eastern part of the pier.
Meanwhile, the spokesman for the Ministry of Defense of the Islamic Republic of Iran, rejecting speculations from media outlets outside Iran, emphasized that there were no military cargoes in the area of the fire. He announced that the relevant agencies will closely examine the main and secondary causes of the incident and provide information in the near future.
The Director General of Iranian Customs, referring to the resumption of transit from this morning at the country's Shahid Rajaee Port, assured that the customs system was not damaged and that matters were being fully monitored through the comprehensive customs system. He also announced the distribution of Shahid Rajaee Port declarations among experts from other Iranian customs to expedite matters, and emphasized that no problems would arise in the customs process at this port.
According to the latest reports, 752 people have been transferred to medical centers since the initial hours of the incident, most of whom have been discharged after receiving treatment, and 190 are currently undergoing treatment. The final death toll from the accident has been announced at 27 so far.
On the other hand, following the incident, Russian President Vladimir Putin, at Iran's request, has ordered the immediate dispatch of several planes carrying specialists from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations to Iran. The Russian embassy in Tehran, announcing this news, emphasized its country's sympathy and support for Iran in these difficult circumstances.
Meanwhile, dozens of countries have so far expressed their sympathy by issuing messages to the Iranian nation and government.
