Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The Pakistani army issued a statement saying that based on intelligence reports, the militants killed were members of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
According to the Associated Press, the Pakistani army said in its statement that these militants were being directed by their foreign leaders to carry out large-scale attacks inside Pakistan. They were identified and killed near the North Waziristan region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on the border with Afghanistan.
Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said in this regard: "This is the first time during the Pakistani army's operation against terrorists that this number of militants have been killed in a single day. "We had information that the foreign masters of these terrorists wanted them to enter Pakistan as soon as possible to carry out attacks."
The Pakistani military also said that the infiltration attempt came at a time when India was making baseless allegations against Islamabad after the recent deadly attack on tourists in Indian-controlled Kashmir.
Pakistan's information minister, referring to New Delhi's allegations of Islamabad's involvement in the attack on tourists, claimed that Pakistan has "substantial" evidence of Indian support for the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and the Balochistan Liberation Army.
