More than 15,000 USDA employees voluntarily resigned
As a result of the restructuring plan of the USDA, more than 15,000 employees of the ministry left their jobs using the voluntary resignation program; an action that has raised alarm bells about the ability of the country's government to provide essential services.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): According to the Politico news website, the Trump administration's downsizing policies at the USDA have led to the departure of more than 15,000 employees from the ministry.

The resignations, which took place in two phases of voluntary programs, are equivalent to 15 percent of the ministry's total workforce and are part of a larger goal to reduce the workforce by 30,000.

Among the resigning individuals are a number of key managers and veteran experts who were previously responsible for implementing vital programs such as food safety, natural resource conservation, forest services, and the National Nutrition Program. The departure of these specialists has raised serious concerns about the decline in the quality of services and oversight capacity of the US Department of Agriculture.

In response to this wave of resignations, officials from the US Department of Agriculture announced that a review of the human resource structure was carried out with the aim of focusing on the needs of farmers, ranchers and producers and that the key functions of the department would not be affected. However, some former employees have described the office environment as “inflammatory”, “highly supervised” and “lacking job security”.

In a situation where hiring of new staff has been stopped, the new Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, has requested the recruitment of 53 new staff to cover the gaps created in various departments of the department.

The recent wave of resignations in the US Department of Agriculture, as one of the most important service institutions of the government, will have long-term consequences for the provision of public services to citizens and meeting the needs of the agricultural sector and continues to face various reactions at the political and media levels.
