Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the Center for Strategic Studies of the Ministry has held a scientific meeting titled "Tensions in Pakistan-India Relations and Its Impact on the Region."
In this meeting, Hafiz Zia Ahmad, Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the recent tensions between the two countries, their consequences on the region, especially Afghanistan, and other related issues were discussed and exchanged.
Mufti Noor Ahmad Noor, First Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in this meeting: "We are currently interacting with both countries based on our balanced policy. Since Pakistan and India are our neighbors, the escalation of tensions between them can have direct negative impacts on the region, especially Afghanistan.”
He added that the tensions between Pakistan and India have had consequences for the region, including Afghanistan, and emphasized that the Islamic Emirate calls for a peaceful resolution of these tensions between the two neighboring countries.
Tensions between India and Pakistan have increased following the recent terrorist attack in the Pahalgam region of Kashmir, which killed 26 tourists. In this regard, the Afghan Foreign Ministry, condemning the attack, emphasized the importance of maintaining regional stability.
On the other hand, relations between Kabul and New Delhi are strengthening. On April 28, 2025, Anand Prakash, Special Representative of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, met with Amir Khan Mottaki, Acting Foreign Minister, in Kabul. During the meeting, the two sides discussed the expansion of political and economic relations, trade and transit, and recent regional developments.
Experts believe that the increase in tensions between India and Pakistan could have negative effects on regional stability, especially for Afghanistan, which is located in the neighborhood of these two countries. Given the geographical location and historical relations, Kabul may be affected by the negative consequences of these tensions, including increased insecurity and reduced economic cooperation. Therefore, emphasizing the peaceful resolution of disputes between India and Pakistan will not only benefit these two countries, but also the entire region, especially Afghanistan.
In a situation where regional tensions are increasing, Afghanistan plays a constructive role in maintaining regional stability by adopting a balanced policy and emphasizing the peaceful resolution of disputes. Continuing this approach can lead to strengthening relations with neighboring countries and increasing regional cooperation.
