Araghchi: We want to reduce tension between India and Pakistan

The Iranian Foreign Minister, upon arriving in Islamabad on Sunday evening (May 4), said regarding the tension between India and Pakistan: We want to reduce tension and show restraint on the part of the parties in the matter of increasing tension.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who arrived in Islamabad on Sunday evening (May 4), in response to a question regarding the objectives of his visit to Pakistan and also the increase in tension in the Indian subcontinent, stated: The situation in the region is important for Iran and we want to reduce tension and prevent an increase in tensions in this region.

Stating that during this visit I will have close consultations with my friends in Pakistan and will meet and consult with the President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan based on the planning made, he noted: Regional issues as well as bilateral relations will be discussed and consulted in these meetings.

The Iranian Foreign Minister added: "We hope to be able to move in a better direction with Pakistan."

Araghchi continued: "The relations between the two countries of Iran and Pakistan are of great importance, as are the relations with other countries in the region, including India."

This high-ranking diplomat of the Islamic Republic of Iran said: "We are trying to see a reduction in tension in the region."
