Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): A bill called the "International Organizations Anti-Boycott Act" (IGO Anti-Boycott Act) is set to be voted on in the US House of Representatives soon.
The bill aims to prevent protests against Zionist crimes or Zionist settlements and provides penalties for American citizens who participate in boycotting Israel.
The bill was proposed by two pro-Zionist representatives, Mike Lawler and Josh Gottheimer, and seeks to expand existing anti-boycott laws in the US. If passed, violators could face civil fines of up to $300,000, criminal fines of up to $1 million, and even imprisonment of up to 20 years.
Critics of the bill say it violates the First Amendment and targets free speech and civil disobedience. Supporters of the bill, on the other hand, see it as part of America’s strategic commitment to Israel.
Since taking office, the Trump administration has taken a series of repressive measures to silence protests against Israeli atrocities in Gaza, including threatening to cut off funding to universities where students have demonstrated in support of the Palestinians.
