Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: "Steven Witkoff," the US President's Special Representative for the Middle East, said this morning (Tuesday, May 6) that negotiations with Iran are positive.
The news and analysis website "Axios" quoted Witkoff as saying: "We are making progress [in negotiations with Iran] and I hope things are moving in the right direction."
He explained in this regard: "Trump wants to resolve this issue diplomatically, if possible, so we are doing our best in talking to Iran."
Al Jazeera quoted Axios as saying: "Witkoff believes that if the fourth round of negotiations with Iran is not held, it will be because of Trump's trip to the Middle East."
The US President's special envoy stated: "I hope that before or during Trump's trip to the region, there will be progress in efforts to reach an agreement to release the hostages."
According to the report, Witkoff continued: "I speak almost every day with Qatar, Egypt and Israel and I hope that we can make progress. It is important that we release the hostages and Hamas must be disarmed."
