Existential and Philosophical Threats of Artificial Intelligence with Real Evidence and Objective Examples; Emphasis of the Secretary General of the World Forum for the Proximity of Islamic Denominations at the Qatar Islamic Jurisprudence Conference
In his speech at the Qatar International Islamic Jurisprudence Conference, the venerable Dr. Hamid Shahriari, Secretary General of the World Forum for the Proximity of Islamic Denominations, emphasized the need for a structural analysis of the harms of artificial intelligence and called for the condemnation of the military applications of this technology by the Zionist regime. By classifying the challenges of artificial intelligence in legal, security, technical, economic and social dimensions, he emphasized the need to examine its philosophical and futuristic threats, including "artificial superintelligence" and autonomous weapons.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Hojjat-ul-Islam and Muslims Dr. Hamid Shahriari, who traveled to Qatar to participate in the 26th Islamic Jurisprudence Forum, expressed his views and observations regarding the speeches of the participants on the ethical rules and regulations of artificial intelligence, saying: The list of harms of artificial intelligence requires a logical and structural framework that includes technical, ethical, social, economic and belief dimensions.

According to the Public Relations Department of the World Forum for the Proximity of Islamic Religions, he added: Although it is necessary to mention the harms, it is not enough; rather, existential and philosophical threats, especially at the future research level, must be expressed more broadly and documented with real evidence and objective examples. Among these threats are scenarios related to artificial superintelligence, the impossibility of long-term control over independent intelligent systems, and the delegation of fateful decisions to irresponsible systems and unaccountable governments.

Hujjat al-Islam Wal-Muslimin Shahriari emphasized that greater sensitivity should be shown towards the current applications of this technology. The smart weapon that was used in the assassination of martyr Yahya al-Sinwar and martyr Ismail Haniyeh should be seriously pursued in this conference and the actions of the Zionist regime in this regard should be condemned. This usurping regime has nuclear, chemical and smart weapons, and it is the responsibility of the jurisprudential assemblies to explain the sanctity of using these weapons. These applications seriously endanger global security, undermine just peace and violate human dignity.

The Secretary General of the Assembly noted: Using credible international sources to understand the issue and understand its dimensions is a necessity. These sources include the IEEE document on the ethics of artificial intelligence (2019), the UNESCO report on the ethics of artificial intelligence (2021), which was also mentioned by Professor Dr. Yasser Ajiel Al-Nashmi in his speech, and the European Union law on artificial intelligence. These sources provide accurate and comparable frameworks for assessing harms and risks.

He concluded by considering it necessary to adopt an analytical and problem-oriented approach instead of a purely rhetorical and warning approach, adding: Using expressions such as: “Artificial intelligence is a tool for killing, deception and fraud” is more of a warning than an analytical one. Such language may not be satisfactory for scientific or international audiences and requires rewriting within the framework of institutional and methodological analyses. Also, while referring to concepts such as algorithmic discrimination, lack of transparency and weak accountability is valuable, it is not enough; Rather, it is necessary to carefully analyze the technical mechanisms behind these harms, such as the structure of neural networks, machine learning, and the nature of data used in education and big data. Ultimately, all of these issues must be examined in a way that preserves human dignity and prevents the mechanization of human society.
