Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): On Tuesday night, the Pakistani army spokesman confirmed the Indian attack and said: "Pakistan confirms the Indian missile attack. India launched its missile attack on three areas."
According to local sources, 8 to 9 missiles were fired from India into Pakistan. Alarm bells rang in some Pakistani cities as the attacks continued.
The Pakistani military spokesman added: “An Indian missile has targeted Muzaffarabad airport in Pakistani Kashmir.”
Pakistan International Airlines announced: “The flights that were flying in the sky have been diverted to Karachi.”
Initial reactions in Pakistan
Minutes after the Indian missile attack, Pakistan promised “retaliatory” action and clearly stated that it would respond to the Indian missile attack.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also said that India attacked five locations in Pakistan. Pakistan fully reserves its right to give a decisive response to this act of war imposed by India and a strong response is underway.
He added: “The entire nation stands with the Pakistani armed forces and the morale of the entire Pakistani nation is high. The Pakistani nation and the Pakistani armed forces know very well how to confront the enemy. We will never allow the enemy to succeed in its evil goals.
General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the head of the Pakistani army's public relations department, also said in response to the Indian missile attack: "Our air force fighters are in the air. This is a shameful and cowardly attack that was carried out from inside Indian airspace. They were never allowed to enter Pakistani airspace. India carried out airstrikes on a mosque in the city of Bahawalpur and also attacked the cities of Kotli and Muzaffarabad."
The Pakistani army spokesman also emphasized: "Pakistan's response to this attack is underway."
The Reuters news agency reported, citing local sources, that three people were killed and at least 12 others were injured in the Indian attacks on Pakistan.
According to Pakistani sources, the country will close its airspace for 48 hours.
Hours before the Indian missile attack on Pakistan, Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said: "We warn India that any attempt to threaten the security of this country will be met with a full response."
Meanwhile, Pakistan's top military commanders held an emergency meeting at the intelligence headquarters and stressed their firm resolve to defend the nation against all threats.
