10 family members of Jaish-e-Mohammed leader killed in Indian airstrikes in Pakistan
Jaish-e-Mohammed leader Masood Azhar announced that 10 members of his family, including his wife, sister and nieces, were killed in Indian airstrikes.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: In a statement released on Wednesday (May 7), he also announced the deaths of four of his closest associates in the attacks. In the statement, Azhar called the action beyond the boundaries of cruelty and warned that mercy should no longer be expected.
 
Indian media reported that the operation included targeted attacks on nine locations associated with terrorist groups across Pakistan and Kashmir under its control. The main Jaish-e-Mohammed compound in Bahawalpur was listed as one of the most important targets in the attacks.
 
Jaish-e-Mohammed, which operates in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, is designated as a terrorist group by the United Nations. The Indian Air Force said it had targeted the headquarters of banned terror groups including Jaish-e-Mohammad, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen in the overnight operation.
 
Pakistan's military, on the other hand, said 26 civilians were killed in the strikes. Islamabad has warned that it will respond in kind to India at the appropriate time.
