Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Following this attack, local sources report that several loud explosions were heard at this base. The city of "Amritsar" is only about 18 miles from the Pakistani border.
News sources report that the air defense system in this Indian city has been activated following this attack.
According to these sources, missiles have flown over this city, which has caused an alert and response of defense systems.
This comes as the Pakistani Prime Minister announced yesterday (Wednesday, 17th of May) that the country's Supreme National Security Council has authorized the armed forces to take countermeasures in response to the Indian air strikes.
In his latest remarks, the Pakistani Prime Minister announced: We will avenge every drop of blood shed in the Indian attacks. Our pilots repelled all Indian attacks and showed great skill.
Shahbaz Sharif clarified: Indian attacks are unjustifiable. India has violated international law and violated the UN Charter. Kashmiris have the right to determine their own destiny.
Shahbaz Sharif said: We have suffered the most from terrorism. We seek to end terrorism in the world. The army and the nation hold hands and crises unite us. We are not afraid of death and are ready to sacrifice ourselves.
Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif also said about the escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan: "India's attack is an invitation to escalate the conflict and we are seeking to avoid a full-scale conflict, but at the same time we are ready for a full-scale war because India is taking provocative actions." He added: "India has crossed the international border and this is a clear violation and an invitation to escalate the conflict. We will not allow India to abandon the water-sharing agreement." This comes as Reuters reports that residents of Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, fled their homes and took refuge in nearby hills, citing Indian airstrikes early Wednesday. According to them, after the ground shook several times and the echoes of the explosions, local authorities called on residents to take shelter through mosque loudspeakers. One resident of the area told Reuters about the events and the Indian attacks early this morning: "We came out of the house. Then there was another explosion. The whole house was moved." Everyone was scared and we all evacuated (the house) and took shelter in the hills with the children.
According to Reuters, many people gathered near a mosque that had been targeted after sunrise. The roof of the mosque had collapsed and the minaret had toppled. Security forces have cordoned off the area.
A senior regional official said three people were killed near the destroyed mosque. The Pakistani military says a total of 26 people have been killed in Indian attacks on Pakistan and Pakistan-controlled Kashmir.
New Delhi launched strikes on Wednesday morning, dubbed “Operation Sindoor,” against what it called “terrorist hideouts and recruitment centers, missile launch pads, brainwashing centers, ammunition depots and training facilities.”
