Iran and India meet in New Delhi; Review of Chabahar Agreement and Regional Developments
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi met with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar during his visit to India and discussed expanding bilateral relations, especially in the economic field and pursuing the implementation of the Chabahar Agreement. The two sides also emphasized the importance of stability and security in the region and reducing tensions.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who traveled to New Delhi to meet with high-ranking Indian officials and participate in the 20th meeting of the Iran-India Joint Commission, met with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar today (Thursday).
 
In this meeting, Araghchi, referring to the deep history of civilizational, historical and cultural relations between the two countries, emphasized the determination of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to expand relations in areas of mutual interest. Recalling the importance of economic and trade relations, he considered the implementation of the 10-year Chabahar cooperation agreement as a priority in the relations between the two countries and called for utilizing the abundant capacities to promote economic cooperation.
 
The Iranian Foreign Minister, while expressing his satisfaction with the holding of the 20th meeting of the Joint Commission, considered this opportunity to discuss strengthening economic relations to be very valuable. He also emphasized the importance of stability and security in the South Asian region for Iran and the world and expressed hope that the recent tensions in this region will be resolved with prudence and responsibility on the part of the relevant parties.
 
The Indian Foreign Minister, welcoming the expansion of bilateral relations in all areas of interest, assessed the holding of the Joint Economic Commission at this important time and emphasized India's readiness to identify and activate cooperation opportunities in various fields.
 
According to ISNA, in this meeting, the parties discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and implement agreements in the economic, trade and transportation fields. Also, emphasis was placed on expanding cooperation in the form of multilateral diplomacy and regional and international organizations such as BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and trilateral or quadrilateral cooperation with other countries in the region on issues of interest. In addition, the Foreign Ministers of Iran and India exchanged views on the latest security and political developments in South and West Asia and emphasized the need for cooperation to reduce tensions, maintain peace and stability, and prevent the spread of conflicts.
