Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The press office of the National Environmental Protection Agency said in a press release that Maulvi Mati-ul-Haq Khalis, director general of this agency, met separately with senior representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
Joint efforts in the field of climate change, technical cooperation and environmental protection were discussed in these meetings.
Mr. Khalis appreciated the ongoing activities and cooperation of both international organizations and emphasized that Afghanistan is facing serious consequences of climate change such as drought, floods, destruction of natural resources and air pollution, which not only causes economic and social problems, but also poses a serious threat to the lives and future of children.
Meanwhile, representatives of the Asian Development Bank emphasized the fight against climate change and the design of environmental projects, and Tajuddin Avila, a representative of UNICEF, also called the effects of climate change on the physical, psychological and social conditions of children serious.
It is worth noting that the international community's assistance in combating climate change in Afghanistan is considered insignificant and undervalued.
