Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)-Herat: Mohammad Reza Alemi, the head of the factory, says that this production center was launched in 2018 with an investment of $1.2 million and has now been able to increase its production capacity to 30 types of injectable solutions; while at the beginning they produced only one type of serum.
According to him, currently 60 employees, including women, are working inside the factory and another 100 people are working in the factory’s provincial offices.
He emphasizes that their products are produced in accordance with international standards and compete in terms of quality with products from European and Turkish countries.
Jafar Saadat, the CEO of the factory, also stated that currently only three factories producing injectable solutions are operating in the country and Afghanistan needs about 40 million serums annually, which these three factories can meet 60 percent of the domestic market needs.
He expressed hope that with the support of the government, this capacity will increase to 100 percent.
Saadat added that they are trying to start exporting to Middle Eastern and Arab countries in the near future, and a new line to produce other types of solutions will also be launched soon.
Despite the high import of drugs from foreign countries, especially India and Pakistan, the Herat Industrial City, as one of the important industrial hubs in the west of the country, plays a pivotal role in the production of health products, and the number of drug production factories is increasing every year.
