Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: After the resolution was issued at the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Chinese Foreign Ministry issued a statement today (Thursday) expressing its support for Iran in reaching a solution aimed at resolving the legitimate concerns of all parties through dialogue and negotiation. The statement stated: "The Iranian nuclear issue must be resolved through political and diplomatic channels."
On the other hand, Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency, stressed in response to the adoption of this resolution that the resolution was issued by a vote of 19 countries and did not enjoy "broad and convincing support."
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Atomic Energy Organization of the country also condemned in a statement the action of the United States and three European countries in adopting the resolution in the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, calling this action "another use of this Council as a tool that is based on political goals and has no technical or legal basis."
The statement states that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always adhered to its safeguards obligations and that none of the Agency's reports have so far mentioned Iran's failure to adhere to its obligations or deviations in Iran's nuclear materials and activities. The Iranian Foreign Ministry has called the IAEA report "completely political and biased" and noted that the four countries even went further and drafted a resolution whose main provisions contradict the Director General's own political report.
Positions of the US, Europe and the Zionist regime
In their joint statement in response to the adoption of the anti-Iranian resolution by the IAEA Board of Governors, the three European countries (Germany, France, and the UK) and the US claimed that "this Board of Governors resolution is not intended to escalate tensions with Iran. This resolution will not weaken diplomatic efforts with Iran, but will only strengthen them."
These countries are publishing this statement in defense of their anti-Iranian resolution, while this resolution is considered a clear attempt against diplomacy and the ongoing indirect negotiations between the US and Iran. The statement, referring to some of the Agency's report's main points, claims: "Due to Iran's lack of cooperation with the Agency, the Director General cannot rule out the possibility of uncontrolled nuclear material in Iran and cannot assure that Iran's nuclear program is exclusively peaceful. These serious findings should make us reflect."
The Israeli Foreign Ministry also reacted to the issuance of this resolution and made allegations against Iran's nuclear program, claiming that "Iran is secretly engaged in activities to produce nuclear weapons" and "has greatly increased the rate of uranium enrichment, which shows that Iran's nuclear program is not peaceful." This is while the Israeli regime itself has hundreds of nuclear warheads, has not accepted membership in the NPT, and does not pursue its nuclear program under the supervision of the Atomic Energy Agency.
EU calls for restraint and Iran's response
The European Union's spokesman called on Iran today (Thursday) to show "restraint" after Tehran committed to building a new uranium enrichment facility in response to a political resolution by the International Atomic Energy Agency's Board of Governors. The request was reportedly made without reference to "hostile" actions by some of the bloc's member states against Tehran.
Iran has repeatedly stressed that its nuclear program is peaceful and is willing to "negotiate to address any concerns and accept the Agency's monitoring" on equal terms. The International Atomic Energy Agency has also repeatedly confirmed the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program in its quarterly reports, but recently, under the influence of the Zionist regime and the United States, it has forgotten its technical and impartial position and, repeating the anti-Iranian claims of the Zionist regime, has claimed that it "cannot confirm the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program."
