Deputy Minister of Labor of Iran: Dealing with Migrant Labor Must Be Lawful and Free from Emotions
Deputy Minister of Labor and CEO of the Small Industries and Industrial Estates Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in a live television news interview, emphasized the need for logical and systematic management of the presence of foreign nationals in the country's labor market, free from any emotion, and warned of its consequences, especially in the field of production.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Tehran: Referring to the division of the labor force in Iran into two categories: "specialized and skilled labor" and "general or unskilled labor", Dr. Reza Ansari noted: "There is no particular concern in the field of specialized and skilled human resources. However, in the general labor sector, especially in areas such as operators and simple jobs, we are witnessing the widespread use of foreign nationals, especially in industrial estates, peripheral areas, and even the agricultural sector of the country."

Referring to the global experience in the field of immigration, Ansari added: "All countries in the world either accept immigrants or send immigrants. In our country, the presence of citizens from neighboring countries, especially Afghanistan, is an issue that must be managed with a legal and systematic approach. Unfortunately, sometimes the reactions are emotional and hasty; in such a way that we either move towards the complete elimination of these forces or completely ignore them.”

The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Iran emphasized: “In the current situation, the psychological atmosphere of society has become inflamed against foreign nationals and some are generally demanding their expulsion. However, it should be noted that some of these people have been active in the country’s production body as legal labor for years, and their sudden elimination could harm the production sector.”

He called for the development and implementation of specific policies to identify, organize, and monitor the presence of foreign labor and stated: “It is necessary for various agencies to work together to develop a specific mechanism for controlling and optimally utilizing this capacity. We should not allow temporary emotions to replace rational planning.”

Ansari concluded by emphasizing: "As a representative of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade and a supporter of national production, I want this issue to go beyond slogans and emotional responses and be managed in a way that is legal and supports national production."
