UN Humanitarian Aid Continues for Returnees; Ministry of Economy Calls for Increased Support
The Ministry of Economy has called on UN offices to continue and increase humanitarian aid for refugees and returnees from neighboring countries, especially Iran. In a meeting between the Acting Minister of Economy and UN representatives, it was emphasized to address the problems and create the necessary facilities for returnees.
The press office of the Ministry of Economy announced that Qari Din Mohammad Hanif, Acting Minister of Economy and Head of the Committee for Attracting and Attracting Aid for Refugees and Returnees, along with members of this committee, met with heads and officials of UN offices including UNDP, IOM, OCHA, UNICEF, UN Women, UNFPA, UNAMA and UNHCR. The meeting discussed effective response, addressing the problems and creating the necessary facilities for returnees.

The Acting Minister of Economy, while appreciating the previous cooperation of the UN in dealing with returnees, emphasized the continuation and strengthening of this cooperation. Also, addressing the urgent needs of returnees from the Islamic Republic of Iran in Herat and Nimroz provinces was one of the issues raised in this meeting.

Representatives of the United Nations offices, while presenting a report on their current activities, assured that they would utilize all available resources to support returnees and that humanitarian programs would continue.

Given the increasing number of returnees from neighboring countries and the country’s critical economic and security situation, the continuation and expansion of UN humanitarian assistance plays a vital role in reducing humanitarian pressures and meeting the basic needs of this vulnerable group. Close cooperation between the Ministry of Economy and the United Nations offices can make the support process more targeted and effective.
