Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: According to Reuters, Hasina has faced numerous cases since fleeing to India after deadly student protests in August, but this is the first time she has been convicted in one of them. The contempt charges were revealed after an audio recording of Hasina was leaked in which she is said to say: "There are 227 cases against me, so now I have the license to kill 227 people."
The verdict was handed down by a three-member panel of the International Criminal Court, Chamber I, headed by Judge Ghulam Murtaza Mozumder, according to the Dhaka Tribune.
In June this year, prosecutors at the International Criminal Court formally charged Hasina with crimes against humanity during last year's mass protests.
Bangladesh's chief prosecutor at the International Criminal Court, Mohammad Tajul Islam, alleged that Hasina had orchestrated a "systematic attack" on protests against her government.
