Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Economic Minister of the Islamic Emirate, in a meeting with the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, called for upgrading the diplomatic presence of the Islamic Emirate Embassy in Baku and investing in solar and wind power production in the country.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Economic Minister of the Islamic Emirate, met with Ali Asadov, Prime Minister of that country, in Baku during his visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

According to the press release of the Deputy Economic Minister of the Prime Minister, the meeting discussed the expansion of political, economic, trade and transit relations between the country and Azerbaijan.

Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar called for upgrading the diplomatic presence of the Islamic Emirate Embassy in Baku and officially accepting the Ambassador of the Islamic Emirate from Azerbaijan.

He also emphasized that the Islamic Emirate, based on its economy-oriented policy, believes in regional connectivity and considers the Lapis Lazuli Corridor to be very important for increasing the level of trade and transit between the country and the countries of the region.

The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs called on Azerbaijan to invest in the sectors of oil and gas extraction and processing, the development of railway networks, and solar and wind power generation in the country, and to share its experiences with the country's officials.

Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov, while welcoming the meeting, said that his country is interested in developing relations through the ECO organization and bilateral and trilateral cooperation with the country and is ready to continue economic, investment and trade cooperation.

Reports indicate that the Republic of Azerbaijan has invested significantly in the field of renewable energy, including solar and wind power projects, in recent years and is willing to develop joint cooperation with neighboring and regional countries. This could be a good opportunity for the country to benefit from Azerbaijan’s experiences and increase its sustainable energy capacities.

Political observers say that the Islamic Emirate’s request to strengthen diplomatic relations and attract Azerbaijani investments in the renewable energy sector reflects the growing interest in sustainable economic development and regional connectivity. Broader economic and trade cooperation can pave the way for economic growth, job creation, and strengthening infrastructure. In addition to reducing dependence on fossil resources, investing in clean energy will also help address environmental challenges and put the country on the path to sustainable development.
