Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: After four years of Afghanistan’s absence from ECO meetings and the Islamic Emirate’s failure to be invited to these gatherings, this time, at the official invitation of the Azerbaijani government, the spell was broken and a high-ranking representative from Kabul attended the highest level of the organization’s meetings. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar participated in the meeting at the head of an official delegation.
According to reports, this meeting aims to strengthen economic, social and political cooperation between member countries and has provided an important opportunity to exchange views and expand regional cooperation.
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar is scheduled to deliver a speech at the meeting and meet with Azerbaijani officials on the sidelines of the meeting to develop political, economic and trade relations. He also met with the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan and the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan.
This is the first official presence of the Islamic Emirate delegation at the ECO summit level after the recent political developments in Afghanistan.
