Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Mashhad: Hossein Jamshidi, the governor of the Taybad border city today (Saturday, July 5) at a press conference at the Taybad Foreign Nationals and Refugees Office, referring to the recent crisis resulting from the twelve-day war in the Islamic Republic of Iran, added: "After this incident, we witnessed a significant increase in the number of Afghan refugees visiting the Dogharun border, most of whom were guided to the border by agents from far corners of Iran." To manage these conditions, all agencies, from the municipality and city council to the military, law enforcement, border guards, and other relief and service institutions, were present in the field with full synergy and coordination.
Governor Taybad noted: For the past 46 years, Afghan refugees have lived in Iran with dignity and honor, and now we have a duty to provide the best services for their return, regardless of nationality.
He reported on the improvement of services at the Dogharun border in recent days and said: With the field management of the officials, the situation of transportation, reception, health, treatment, and organization of refugees has improved. Buses enter the area based on specific shifts and groups, facial biometrics and registration are performed, and then the refugees leave the border in an orderly manner.
According to him, due to the temperature of over 40 degrees in the region, special measures have been taken for the welfare of the refugees, including the installation of awnings, air conditioners, water coolers, 2,000-liter water storage resources, and the daily distribution of 500 ice cubes. Food, bread, drinks, fruit juice, cheese, and other food items are also distributed free of charge to the refugees.
The governor of Taibad added: Important measures have also been taken in the field of treatment; a medical team including a doctor, nurse, and ambulance have been deployed, the necessary medicines have been prepared and supplied, and daily health services are provided to women and children.
Referring to the problems of transporting the life supplies of the refugees, he said: With the agreement of the governor of Khorasan Razavi and the governor of Herat, the process of trucks crossing the border was also facilitated; so that yesterday, 1,070 trucks carrying the refugees' belongings crossed the border and were handed over to the Taliban on the other side of the border without delay.
The Governor of Taybad stated: With the support of the esteemed governor, infrastructure and security measures have also been strengthened, and with the deployment of law enforcement officers and welfare kiosks, the process of organizing the refugees has been accompanied by desirable order and security.
In the end, he appreciated the continuous follow-up and guidance of the Governor of Khorasan Razavi, the Director General of Citizens Affairs, the Mayor, the City Council, and other cooperating agencies, and stated: Our goal is to provide a safe, peaceful, dignified exit for the dear Afghan refugees.
