Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: In the latest crackdown, London police arrested 41 people in the country's Parliament Square on charges of "expressing support for a banned organization." The protesters had gathered to protest the ban on the activities of the Palestine Action group and to express their opposition to this ban.
The ban on the Palestine Action group was imposed after activists of the group entered a military base last month and sprayed red paint on two planes in protest of Britain's support for the Israeli regime's war on Gaza. Many human rights organizations have described this war as "genocide."
The arrests were not limited to London, with 16 people arrested in Manchester and 13 in South Wales under the Terrorism Act 2000. Last week, police arrested 29 people, including a priest and several health workers, in a protest against the banning of the Palestine Action group.
