The National Environmental Protection Agency announced that in a coordination meeting with the Ministry of Higher Education, the importance of awareness, scientific research, practical activities and the role of educational institutions in promoting environmental understanding was emphasized.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: According to the agency’s press release, the aforementioned meeting was held in the presence of Dr. Mullah Zainul Abedin Abid, Deputy Minister for Policy and Professional Affairs of the National Environmental Protection Agency, and Sheikh Ziaur Rahman Aryoubi, Deputy Minister for Science of the Ministry of Higher Education, along with the participation of a technical delegation.

The main objective of this meeting was to review the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions in order to protect and restore the environment, promote environmental culture in educational institutions and strengthen scientific and practical cooperation.

During the meeting, the two sides emphasized the need to increase awareness in the academic community, conduct scientific research related to the environment, and provide a basis for students’ practical participation in environmental projects.

It was also decided to develop an implementation and monitoring plan to implement the provisions of the memorandum of understanding. Another decision of the meeting was to establish joint coordination committees at the provincial level so that universities can work more closely with environmental departments to introduce students to practical work, conduct joint research, and implement educational and awareness programs.
