Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi declared his caliphate in Mosul in 2014, and the group has taken over large parts of Iraq and Syria by committing brutal crimes.
With the formation of resistance forces and the launch of liberation operations, ISIS was gradually defeated and turned into scattered gangs in the rugged areas between different Iraqi provinces.
According to military officials, Iraqi forces are trying to prevent the group from resuming its activities by conducting airstrikes and search operations. Abdul Amir Yarallah, the Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army, has emphasized that ISIS has been defeated militarily and its remnants are present in hard-to-reach areas.
Officers of the Iraqi Joint Operations Command have also announced that the number of ISIS terrorists has decreased significantly, and internal disputes and livelihood problems have further weakened the group.
Karim al-Mohammadawy, the head of the Iraqi Parliament's Security and Defense Committee, referring to the success of the Iraqi forces in destroying ISIS elements, said that Iraq has become the largest cemetery for the terrorist group.
Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani has also ordered the security forces to limit ISIS movements by changing military tactics and adopting unconventional methods.
The Iraqi Army Command recently announced that the number of ISIS terrorists in Iraq currently does not exceed 400.
