Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The Supreme Shiite Authority of Iraq expressed its deep concern about the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza and called for immediate action by Islamic countries and the international community to end this crisis.
The text of the statement is as follows:
In the name of Allah
After nearly two years of relentless killing and destruction that has left hundreds of thousands of martyrs and wounded and completely destroyed cities and residential complexes, these days the oppressed Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip are facing very difficult living conditions; especially the lack of food, which has led to widespread famine and has even affected children, the sick and the elderly.
Although nothing is expected of the occupying forces except this horrific brutality - in line with their ongoing efforts to displace the Palestinians from their land - the countries of the world, especially the Arab and Islamic countries, are expected not to allow this great humanitarian catastrophe to continue and to make every effort to end it and to exert maximum pressure to force the occupying regime and its supporters to open the routes to deliver food and other essential necessities to innocent civilians in the shortest possible time.
The horrific images of the widespread famine in Gaza that the media broadcast scratch the conscience of every waking person and even rob anyone with a shred of conscience of the pleasure of eating and drinking, as Amir al-Mu’minin Ali (AS) said regarding the rape of a woman in Islamic lands: "If a Muslim dies of grief after seeing this tragedy, not only is there no blame on him, but he deserves praise."
