Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The press office of the Ministry of Energy and Water announced today, Sunday, August 3, in a press release that the Shokhi Station Maintenance and Care Project in Kapisa Province has begun at a total cost of 913,728 Afghanis.
According to this press release, this project is funded from the budget of the Ministry of Energy and Water and is being implemented under the supervision of the Kapisa Provincial Energy and Water Department, and its completion time is expected to be five months.
Another part of the announcement states that a meeting was held with the presence of the Head of Energy and Water of Kapisa, Engineer Kaveh Khourosh, and the heads of the user associations of the province’s six public canals to regulate water schedules and necessary measures have been taken for better management of water resources.
Shokhi Station is one of the important water supply facilities in the region, which plays a key role in water management for the surrounding farmland.
Local media reported that a cleaning and repair project was carried out at the same station last year, but due to lack of attention and heavy rainfall, some of the facilities needed repair again.
Some local residents have expressed satisfaction on social media with the resumption of the project and have called for closer monitoring of the quality of the work.
According to water resources experts, the maintenance and care of small water supply facilities in the provinces plays a vital role in providing water for agriculture and preventing water waste. Observers say that the lack of a regular maintenance system in recent years has made these facilities extremely vulnerable to natural disasters and erosion. Studies show that if such projects are accompanied by transparency in implementation and serious technical supervision, they can play an effective role in the sustainable development of the country's water resources.
