Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Ukrainian media have announced that during the drone attacks last night, an oil storage depot in the city of Sochi in southern Russia was targeted and caught fire. The operation was carried out by suicide drones of the Ukrainian army, and as a result, thick smoke rose from the site of the explosion.
Local Russian authorities, confirming the attack, announced that following the explosion, Sochi International Airport stopped its operations for hours and at least 52 domestic and international flights were delayed. Despite the efforts of firefighters to contain the fire, precise information about the extent of financial losses and possible damage to the energy infrastructure in the region has not yet been released.
The drone attack on Sochi comes as air clashes between the two countries have intensified in recent days, with both sides increasing reciprocal drone attacks on each other's important military and economic areas. Military analysts see these developments as a sign that the war between Ukraine and Russia has entered a new and more complex phase, targeting the vital infrastructure of the two countries.
On the other hand, some international sources have warned that continued drone attacks on energy facilities may have wider consequences in the field of energy and international security, especially given that Russia is one of the world's largest exporters of oil and gas.
The war between Ukraine and Russia, which has entered a full-scale phase since 2022, has left hundreds of thousands dead and injured and has severely affected the economies of both countries.
