China-Russia naval drills begin in the Sea of Japan
China and Russia began a joint naval drill in the Sea of Japan today (Sunday) in order to strengthen their strategic partnership.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The China-Russia drill is a move to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries and confront the global order supported by the United States.

AFP reported that in recent years, military cooperation between Moscow and Beijing has expanded in line with their political and economic relations; especially since the outbreak of the Ukraine war in February 2022, these relations have taken on deeper dimensions.

The "Joint Sea 2025" drill, which began on Sunday in the waters near the Russian port of Vladivostok, will last for three days.

The Chinese Ministry of Defense added that the drill will include operations such as "submarine rescue, anti-submarine, air and anti-missile defense, and naval combat."

Four Chinese vessels, including the guided-missile destroyers Shaoxing and Urumqi, are taking part in the drills alongside Russian warships.

According to the report, after the end of the exercise, the two countries’ navies will conduct joint patrols in the waters surrounding the Pacific Ocean.

China and Russia have held annual joint military exercises called “Common Sea” since 2012. Last year, the exercise was held off China’s southern coast.

China’s Defense Ministry announced on Friday that the aim of this year’s exercise is to “further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership” between the two countries.

While the West accuses China of supporting Russia in the war in Ukraine, China considers itself a neutral actor and, while repeatedly calling for an end to the conflict, accuses the West of prolonging the war by sending weapons to Ukraine.
