Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The Charge d'Affaires of the Indonesian Embassy in Kabul, in a meeting with Qari Din Mohammad Hanif, Acting Minister of Economy, emphasized his country's readiness to expand economic and trade relations with the country and investment by Indonesian companies in various sectors.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Economy's press office, Nanda Owalist, the Charge d'Affaires of the Indonesian Embassy, in this meeting, in addition to his country's desire to develop economic cooperation, announced the proposal to establish a joint chamber of commerce and industry between businessmen of the two countries.
In this meeting, the Acting Minister of Economy, referring to the capacities and opportunities available in the country, explained the facilities provided to attract foreign investments and said that the interest of Indonesian companies in investing can play a positive role in economic development and creating job opportunities.
He also stated that national security, new laws in the investment sector, and the facilities provided have provided a good basis for attracting international companies.
Economic sources indicate that in recent years, Indonesia has become interested in establishing economic interaction with South and Central Asian countries, given its foreign policies based on the development of new markets.
Some Indonesian companies have also been active in the halal industries and construction materials sectors in the countries of the region in the past. Unofficial sources in cyberspace have reported an initial interest from an Indonesian company to evaluate investment opportunities in the agricultural and processed food sectors in the eastern provinces, but official details have not yet been released.
Surveys show that Southeast Asian countries have been more cautious in their interactions with Afghanistan after recent political developments. However, economic experts believe that Indonesia’s willingness to establish a joint chamber of commerce is a sign of the beginning of a new economic diplomatic process.
Experts believe that if the government can maintain stability in investment laws and ensure private ownership, Asian companies like Indonesia can play a key role in developing the country’s manufacturing and export industries.
