Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Tehran: Media outlets in the Islamic Republic of Iran reported that Ali Larijani was appointed as Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council by decree of President Masoud Pazeshkian. He replaced Ali Akbar Ahmadian, who had held this position since 1402 AH.
Ali Larijani is a well-known Iranian political figure with a long history in various management fields. He previously served as Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly for 12 years and has also served as Chairman of the Iranian Broadcasting Corporation, the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran.
In the text of the appointment decree, the Iranian President has asked Larijani to closely monitor the Council’s secretariat, monitor emerging threats, redefine strategic concepts of national security, and adopt an intelligent and people-based approach. The goal of this mission is to ensure sustainable security at the national, regional, and international levels.
This appointment was made in a situation where regional and global developments have made the role of the Supreme National Security Council more prominent in Iran’s major security decision-making.
