Head of IOM Office Meets with Herat Governor; Emphasis on cooperation in the process of returning migrants
The head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) office visited Herat province and met with the governor of the province, Maulana Islam Jar. The meeting focused on facilitating the return of refugees, supporting climate change victims and expanding cooperation within the framework of Afghanistan's religious and national values.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVNA) - Herat: The head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) office met with Sheikh Maulana Islam Jar, the governor of Herat province, during his visit to a high-level delegation.
 
According to the press office of the governor of Herat, the head of the IOM office expressed satisfaction with the timely handling of refugee affairs by the local administration of Herat and said that the organization is trying to facilitate the process of returning refugees to their homes. He also announced long-term support programs for those affected by climate change.
 
"The security that is now ensured in Afghanistan did not exist in the past," he said, referring to the positive changes in the country. Under the leadership of the Islamic Emirate, numerous development projects are being implemented and we are committed to constructive cooperation within the framework of Afghanistan's religious and national values.”
 
Meanwhile, Sheikh Maulana Islamjar, the governor of Herat, while welcoming the visit of the IOM delegation, called for expanding cooperation in providing essential needs for returnees. He expressed hope that the trip would provide more facilities for refugees and convey the true picture of Afghanistan to the international community.
 
The governor of Herat concluded by stressing that complete security was maintained throughout the country and the law was in force from Islam Qala to Wakhan. He added that the main cause of migration is climate change and past wars and the solution to these challenges lies in the development of advanced agriculture, modern livestock and strong industry.
