Lebanese government meeting focused on Hezbollah disarmament/Sheikh Naim Qassem: The strategy is not to set a timetable for disarmament
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: In recent months, despite repeated ceasefire violations by the Zionist regime, Washington has pressured Lebanese ministers to publicly declare their commitment to Hezbollah's disarmament by threatening to cut off security and economic aid. US envoy Thomas Barak had previously proposed a plan that in exchange for Hezbollah’s complete disarmament, the Israeli regime would halt its attacks on Lebanon and withdraw from five occupied locations in southern Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah released a video announcing that it would not lay down its weapons. “Resistance to liberate Lebanon, defend its sovereignty, stop the Zionist regime’s aggression, and place weapons within the framework of the national defense strategy is the only way,” Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem said.
The Hezbollah Secretary General also said: “If we hand over our weapons, Israel’s attacks will not stop under any circumstances.” This is what Israeli officials are clearly stating. Supporting the Lebanese army is only for its internal duty, not to confront Israel. Therefore, we must also ask whether giving up weapons, as requested by Israel, the US, and some Arab countries, is to consolidate sovereignty or not.
He continued: The Lebanese Prime Minister claims that he will take all necessary measures to liberate all the country's lands from Israeli occupation, but the question is where are these measures? The Lebanese government must support the country, not to deprive the nation and the resistance of its power, but rather to use this power and make it resilient instead of disarming it.
The Secretary General of Hezbollah, emphasizing that the Lebanese resistance is seeking cooperation and agreement with other forces in the country, said: We must be vigilant against those who beat the drum of internal sedition and whose hands are stained with blood. This country has shed a lot of blood and we will not allow anyone to dictate anything to us. No one can deprive Lebanon of its power.
Naim Qassem, stating that Hezbollah was able to stop the Israeli aggression in its operation to support Gaza, added: If we had not intervened, the enemy would have reached Beirut, but the resistance, the army and the people of Lebanon did not allow Israel to achieve its goals. If the enemy thinks that our wounded are no longer capable of serving, he is mistaken.
He believes that Hezbollah has great popular support and said: "Our enemy does not have an open hand, and to this day we have not allowed him to achieve whatever he wants."
