Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Local officials in Herat province announced that the construction of a small circulating dam (Chakdam) in Tepe Gaz village of Adreskan district of the province has been completed and officially put into operation.
The dam is 3 meters high, 24 meters long and has a storage capacity of 5,000 cubic meters of water, with a total cost of 2,789,315 Afghanis from the budget of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
According to officials, the project was implemented under the supervision of the engineering team of the Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department, in cooperation with the technical teams of the relevant ministry and Sadegh Golzar Construction Company.
During the implementation of the project, dozens of local residents were provided with jobs. The construction of the dam will also prevent seasonal water wastage, nourish groundwater resources and benefit dozens of jeribs of agricultural land.
Local officials have called the project an effective step in managing water resources and supporting agriculture in rural areas.
