According to Al Jazeera, the Ghanaian government announced in a statement on Wednesday night that Edward Omani Bawama, the Defense Minister, and Ibrahim Murtaza Mohammed, the Environment, Science and Technology Minister, died in a military helicopter crash.
 
The Ghanaian armed forces had previously announced in a statement that the country's Air Force helicopter with five passengers and three crew members on board had disappeared from radar screens.
 
The Ghana Armed Forces confirmed that the Z9 helicopter took off from the country's capital Accra at 9:12 a.m. on Wednesday morning towards the town of Obawasi in Ashanti State, lost contact with it and disappeared from radar screens.
