Al Jazeera: Shia ministers withdraw from Lebanese government meeting/ Firm opposition to US plan on weapons of resistance
According to an Al Jazeera reporter, the Lebanese cabinet meeting held today, Thursday, at Baabda Palace, which was held to review the proposal of the American envoy, Tom Barak, on disarming Hezbollah, was accompanied by serious political tension. Ministers affiliated with Hezbollah and the Amal Movement, who attended the meeting, expressed their strong opposition to reviewing the plan and ultimately withdrew from continuing to attend the meeting.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Al Jazeera sources have reported that the Lebanese president has tried to convince Shiite ministers not to leave the meeting, but these efforts have been unsuccessful.

Hezbollah and Amal ministers have emphasized that any discussion on weapons of resistance should be postponed until the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from Lebanese territory, the cessation of the Zionist regime's attacks, and the start of the reconstruction process.

This action was taken in response to the US proposal, which the resistance movement has seen as a “conspiracy to weaken Lebanon’s deterrence.”

It was previously reported that if other ministers insist on considering the US plan, Hezbollah and Amal ministers have announced that they will leave the meeting altogether.

It is worth noting that on Tuesday, the Lebanese government’s cabinet met in Beirut for the first time to discuss the issue of Hezbollah’s disarmament. The meeting was held after Lebanese President Joseph Aoun officially announced that he was committed to the disarmament of all groups in the country. The United States, which played a role in mediating the ceasefire after the recent war between Lebanon and Israel, has been pressuring the Lebanese government in recent months to determine the fate of Hezbollah’s weapons as soon as possible. However, the meeting did not reach a conclusion and was postponed until today.
