Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): “Mohammad Raad,” head of the Loyalty to the Resistance faction in the Lebanese parliament, in an interview with Al-Manar Network, while rejecting foreign pressure to disarm the resistance, called the surrender of weapons “political suicide” and said: “Whoever surrenders his weapons has lost his honor.” He added: “Who can guarantee that after surrendering weapons, Lebanon will be able to defend itself?”
Referring to the current situation in the region and the failure of Lebanon’s enemies, Raad stated: “The Zionists have not been able to close a single case on various fronts, while the Lebanese resistance remains the main deterrent force.” He emphasized that Western civilization and the Israeli regime have shown their moral bankruptcy with their racist and violent actions, and global public opinion has understood this fact well.
The head of the Hezbollah faction referred to the May 17, 1983 agreement, which lasted only nine months, and added: “Now the Americans insist on pushing Lebanon towards internal tensions and new crises by setting a timetable for disarmament.”
Regarding the consequences of disarmament, the Lebanese parliamentarian emphasized that this decision was not a sovereign choice but one imposed by external parties, and those who made it must accept responsibility for its consequences. He criticized some Lebanese government officials and said: “This hasty decision opens the way to Karbala and means surrendering to Israeli pressure.”
Mohammed Ra’ad also said that despite suffering losses, the resistance has been able to defend Lebanon with its will and strategy, and “the weapons of resistance are only a means to maintain national security and honor.”
On the other hand, the Lebanese people and various social groups are also opposed to the disarmament of the resistance, believing that these forces are Lebanon’s only defense against Israeli aggression and regional threats. They consider the handover of weapons to be a precursor to insecurity and the collapse of national security.
Raad concluded by announcing that Hezbollah has not yet made a final decision on whether to remain in the government or leave, but continued pressure and imposition of these policies could lead to a serious reconsideration in this regard.
