The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has published the results of an investigation into the recent report by the UNAMA Human Rights Division on returning migrants, saying that the ministry’s investigation revealed that instead of helping the deported migrants, the UNAMA report attempted to distort facts and confuse the minds of migrants by playing with words.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press release saying that a joint commission headed by the ministry was tasked with comprehensively examining the report and, if it is true, seeking explanations from relevant government institutions, and if it is not true, seeking explanations from UNAMA.
The commission’s investigation revealed that instead of helping the deported migrants, the UNAMA report attempted to distort facts and confuse the minds of migrants by playing with words.
In addition, the UNAMA report interviewed only 49 people, and many of the cases are simply unsubstantiated allegations that are not consistent with scientific research methods.
The UNAMA report also uses terms that are politically motivated and question the principle of impartiality.
UNAMA recently published a report claiming that Afghan refugees being deported from Iran and Pakistan face torture, reprisals, arbitrary detention, and security threats from the Islamic Emirate.
